Product Description
Aluminum Embedded Finned Tubes consists of aluminum fin strip that is mechanically embedded into the wall of the tube. The embedding process is controlled by tooling that first plows a groove into the tubes outside diameter, then guides the base of the fin into the groove and finally locks the fin in place by rolling the groove closed on the base of the fin. This strong mechanical bond holds up to vibration and continuous thermal cycling and can withstand temperatures far greater than those for aluminum L-foot finned tubes. Typical fin spacing is 10 fins per inch of tube length — this can be varied.
G Finned Tube Manufacturing Process
A helical groove is formed in base tube displacing of material and fin is wound into the groove under tension, followed by backfilling of the displaced material to lock the fin root into the tube.
Fin materials: Aluminium Base
Tube materials:Any readily machinable material
G Finned Tube Advantages
High fin stability, excellent heat transfer, high operating temperature.
The fin/tube wall contact is constant because of the setting and makes it possible to use a wall temperature of up to 450°C.
The fin is set throughout its length and consequently does not unwind even when partially uprooted.
This kind of finned tube is one of optimum choices for having good effectiveness/cost ratio.

FAQ
1. What is a fin tube?
Finned tubes are the main components of heat exchangers. They are a series of tubes where fins have been added on the outside to increase the contact area with the outside fluid, to exchange heat and between the fluid inside the tube and the fluid outside the tube.
2. Where are Fine Tubes products used?
Our main markets include the aerospace, oil and gas, nuclear, power generation, chemical process and medical device industries. However we are also developing products for emerging sectors like desalination, geothermal energy, sports and the automotive industry. We are continually innovating, so if you require tubing for other applications please get in touch and we’ll be happy to discuss your requirements.
3. What is 'G' Fin Tube or Embedded Fin Tube?
As the name suggests, the embedded fin tube or G fin tube is an extended surface fin tube where the fins are externally applied on the base tubes. A groove is formed continuously on the base tube and the fin edge is inserted in the groove. After the fin is inserted in the groove a set of rollers is used to back fill the groove and the fin is then securely embedded in the base tube.
The strength of the Embedding or more commonly known as Fin to Tube bond test is checked by hanging a 3 Kg free wight to an Isolated fin. This ensures whether the fin has been Embedded into the base tube properly.
4. What is an 'G' Fin Tube made of?
'G' Fin Tubes or Embedded Fin Tubes are made of two main components, Base Tube and Fin Strip material. We can supply the 'G' Fin Tubes in the following combinations of Base Tube and Fin Material:
Base Tube Material: Carbon Steel, Alloy Steel, Mild Steel, Stainless steel and tubes manufactured by ERW or Seamless Process.
5. Where are 'G' Fin Tubes or Embedded Fin Tubes used?
'G' Fin Tubes or Embedded Fin Tubes are mainly used in air fin coolers and many different types of air-cooled radiators. These types of 'G' Fin Tubes mainly find application in areas where the temperature for heat transfer is in a slightly higher range. The Embedded Fin Tubes are mainly used in places with higher temperature and where the working atmosphere is relatively less corrosive to the base tube.
Main industries in which the 'G' Fin Tubes find service are Process Chemical Plants, Refineries, Gas Processing Plants, Steel Plants, Power Plants, Fertilizer Manufacturing Plants, etc.
6. How do you ensure a quality product?
We always put quality as the most important thing for customers, and we control the quality from raw material inspection, production checking to water pressure test and strength test. Also the third party can be authorized to check.Incoming inspection report for bare tube & strip.
